The BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8100 smartphone is one of the world’s smallest smartphones and packs all of the power you expect from a BlackBerry® smartphone. It comes complete with digital camera, multimedia capabilities and expandable memory. And it offers users everything else you would expect from a BlackBerry smartphone—including phone, email, web browser, text messaging (SMS and MMS), instant messaging, organiser applications and more.

The BlackBerry Pearl smartphone provides Quad-band network support (on 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM®/GPRS and EDGE* networks) to allow for international roaming between North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

Enterprise friendly

For larger corporate and government organisations, the BlackBerry Pearl smartphone works with BlackBerry® Enterprise Server to provide users and IT managers with advanced security and easier access to corporate information.

Unlike traditional mobile phones, the BlackBerry Pearl smartphone can be centrally managed and supported by IT departments using BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Wireless push delivery of email and data, remote address book look-up and single mailbox integration are just a few of the features available.

Setting up your smartphone

Whether you’re using BlackBerry® Enterprise Server or BlackBerry® Internet Service, setting up your BlackBerry smartphone is simple and can be done completely over-the-air.

Not sure whether to set up your smartphone for BlackBerry Enterprise Server or BlackBerry Internet Service? Follow these guidelines:

BlackBerry Internet Service

Use this option if one or more of the following apply:

  • You purchased your smartphone in a store
  • You want to set up a new email account for use with your smartphone
  • You want to send and receive email messages on your smartphone from one or more existing email accounts

BlackBerry Enterprise Server

Use this option if one or more of the following apply:

  • You want to receive messages from your corporate Microsoft® Outlook®, IBM® Lotus® Notes® or Novell® GroupWise® email account
  • A system administrator is managing BlackBerry Enterprise Server within your company
  • A system administrator has confirmed that you are permitted to use the BlackBerry Enterprise Server
  • You subscribe to a wireless service that supports account setup using the BlackBerry Enterprise Server

Before setting up your email with BlackBerry Enterprise Server, you will need to contact your IT department to request:

  • That an account be set up for you on your organisation’s BlackBerry Enterprise Server
  • Your enterprise activation password
